S48 - Vukelulu Tribal Challenge!

As you may have noticed, the last email you received only had half of the Vukelulu league members on it. This is because you have been randomly divided into two "tribes” of thirty-five for this season's Tribal Challenge…

To have a shot at winning, your tribe must work together to complete this two-part challenge. Make sure you follow these rules carefully…

PART ONE:

As a tribe, unscramble the letters below to uncover a five-word phrase using all 35 letters.

PART TWO:

Now you really gotta work together! As a group of 35 tribemates, you must each send one email to spell out the 35 letter phrase one by one in order without misspellings or accidental duplicates.

For example: If you were on a 13-person tribe, and the 13-letter puzzle unscrambled to the phrase: V U K E L U L U   T R I B E, your tribe would be responsible for spelling out the phrase in the email thread by sending one letter in each email. So that means 13 emails, one from each tribe member, spelling out the phrase letter by letter in order.

The emails would be sent as a “reply all” in the email thread that survivorvukelulu@gmail.com started. They would be:

Email #1 sent by Parvati: V

Email #2 sent by Boston Rob: U

Email #3 sent by Tony: K

Email #4 sent by Sandra: E

Email #5 sent by Yam Yam: L

Email #6 sent by Cirie: U

Email #7 sent by Ozzy: L

Email #8 sent by Tyson: U

Etc.

You didn’t think we’d make it that easy though, did you? Here’s the catch…

Not only do the emails need to be sent in the correct order of the unscrambled phrase, there is ALSO a timing component. Stick with us here…

Responses must be submitted in an increasing cadence according to the minute. Hours don’t matter here, but the minutes are everything. If someone submits the first answer at 6:10 AM, every answer thereafter must increasingly gain at least one minute (again, hours don’t matter). You cannot go backwards in minutes, or you’ve broken the email chain.

For example

Email #1 sent by Parvati at 12:18PM: V✓

Email #2 sent by Boston Rob at 12:27PM: U✓

Email #3 sent by Tony at 12:31AM: K✓

Email #4 sent by Sandra at 1:33AM: E✓

Email #5 sent by Yam Yam at 2:35PM: L✓

Email #6 sent by Cirie at 2:41AM: U✓

Email #7 sent by Ozzy at 2:46PM: L✓

Email #8 sent by Tyson at 4:32PM: U ❌

In this example, although Tyson submitted the correct letter in the sequence, he has broken the tribe’s chain since he sent his email at 4:32PM. In order for the chain to have continued, he would have needed to send his correct response any time after the 46th minute in a given hour.

Since there are 35 members on your tribe, and only 60 minutes in an hour, you will need to be strategic with when these emails are sent.

And remember, this is a TRIBAL CHALLENGE, meaning every person on your tribe must participate by submitting ONE email to the thread. No sit out benches!

Once you submit your “reply all” email to the chain that survivorvukelulu@gmail.com started, you may not submit another email - whatever you put in that one email counts as your submission to the challenge.

If you:

  • Mess up the order of the word puzzle OR

  • Send your email at an earlier minute count than someone before you OR

  • You send more than one email to the thread

the challenge is over for your tribe and your chain is broken. So make sure you are quick, but most importantly, accurate.

Want to know what you're playing for?

The tribe that gets all 35 tribe members to perfectly submit the unscrambled phrase in order AND in an increasing minute cadence will win an advantage. If no tribe submits perfectly, the tribe that has submitted the longest, most accurate chain by Wednesday, April 16th at 8 PM ET will win an advantage. The other tribe will receive nothing— “sorry for you…”

How you communicate and strategize with your tribemates is entirely up to you. If you have any questions, please comment on this blog post so that the responses are public.
