PREVIOUSLY ON....SURVIVOR.

The Season 40 Survivor Fantasy League submitted their rankings for the draft. All of our players returned from last season, with the twist that three new tribe members would be joining the league:
Adam, one of Brian's best friends since third grade, who together would play Survivor during 4th grade recess, pooling together all of their lunch table's desserts and "playing for reward."
Joyce, Bri's mom, a day one fan who has AUDITIONED to be on the show, still waiting on that call from Probst.
And Rachael, one of Liv's best friends from South Africa study abroad, a HUGE Amazing Race fan, but don't be fooled by this pint-sized beauty, she's well-versed in the Survivorfandom.
Initially the draft rules stated that we would limit the number of times a single player can appear on multiple league member's tribes to 4. We increased that number to 5 to accommodate for the 3 new Fantasy League Tribe Members. With that increase, everyone got at least 3 out of 5 of their top picks!

Because I love analyzing shit, I wanted to break down some of the stats and trends that maybe(hopefully??) you find interesting:
With a total of 90 castaways drafted, 48 were men and 42 were women.
The most popular draft pick this season was Natalie Anderson (average ranking of 6.8), followed very closely by Kim Spradling (average ranking of 6.9). Both women were fully drafted before the third round of picks started.
The most popular male draft pick was Yul Kwon (with an average ranking of 7.6), followed closely by Ethan Zohn (with an average ranking of 7.9).
According to this league, it doesn't look like the QUEEN IS STAYING QUEEN in Season 40. Sandra Diaz-Twine was ranked lower than any other castaway, averaging at #14.3.
The contestants you did NOT want on your team, however, were Sophie Clark, who received the most #20 rankings and Danni Boatwright, who only ended up on only 2 tribe members' teams. This could be perhaps because these seasons were pretty boring. (And my hot take is that Coach and Steph should have won these seasons respectively).
Rob or Ambuh? Ambuh or Rob?? Based on the draft, 53% our league ranked the original Australian Outback hottie, Amber Brkich (Mariano) higher than hubby, and author of the rulebook, Strategies for Life, Boston Rob Mariano.
Our most middling pick? Wendell Holland was placed on more than half of the league's rankings at numbers 9-13.
And what's a good Survivor season without some villainy. Two of the most iconic villains happened to be the most polarizing draft picks. Tyson Apostol and Parvati Shallow received more top 5 rankings AND bottom 5 rankings than any of the other contestants.
Natalie Anderson and Parvati Shallow received the most #1 rankings, with three each. And just like the real game of Survivor, Parvati captured the men on this one, only guys placed her at #1 (the women in our league felt more comfortable placing Parv towards the bottom of their ranking).
Bottom line?

And just as a reminder, here's how we will be scoring this season:
Score 3 points per castaway for each week they survive prior to the merge (you will not receive these points if your player is on Edge of Extinction)
Score 10 points per castaway for each week they survive post merge (you will not receive these points if your player is on Edge of Extinction)
Score 25 bonus points if any of your picks make it off the Edge of Extinction and win their way back into the game!
Score 20 bonus points if any of your picks comes in 3rd place
Score 30 bonus points if any of your picks comes in 2nd place
Score 40 bonus points if any of your picks comes in 1st place
